The Chain of DefenseTM has been teaching physical and non-physical integrative self-defense principles since 2010 – building an individual’s self-worth in their capacity to protect themselves. We believe self-protection is an essential life skill and promote 16 Foundational Principles in this mission:
- Learn in progression in order to instill a chain of reaction and learned intuitive behavior.
- Always attack and defend simultaneously.
- Conserve body movement. Less equals greater efficiency.
- In order to prevail, you must be effective AND efficient.
- Linear movement is faster than circular.
- Never look where you strike. Your Line of Vision is always at center of opponent’s body.
- Never use your voice unless opponent is out of your personal territory.
- Never get in a fighting stance – you never want to let opponent know what you know.
- Always defend and attack according to the danger level and the opponent’s body position.
- Gauge your distance. Never allow an opponent within your personal territory.
- Know your pressure points. Engage the closest pressure point with the closest part of your body.
- Never be complacent. Have a heightened awareness in every situation.
- Walk with confidence. Head up – shoulders back – hands ready.
- Attack preemptively – defend intuitively.
- Listen and TRUST your gut instinct – it’s always correct.
- Use your mind as your best defense. Defending yourself is not about physical strength. It is about your intelligence and knowing how to use your body as a weapon.
*We also make every effort to accommodate cultural, religious and gender preferred group settings. Please advise if a preference is required in advance of the scheduled training.
Pure Krav Maga
In conjunction to principles created and taught by our Lead Instructor Ms. Dorey, we teach from the Pure Krav Maga: Self Defense Mastery™ discipline founded by Boaz Aviram. Pure Krav Maga is the original pre-1983 Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Krav Maga, which is the official hand-to-hand fighting training system of the Israeli military. The name comes from the Hebrew words KRAV meaning fight and MAGA meaning contact. It was originally developed by Immi Lichtenfeld for the underground organizations defending Israeli interests whilst under British Rule of Palestine; and subsequently, Immi became the first IDF Krav Maga Instructor in the late 1940s.
Our instructors are available for private and/or small group instruction.
We offer personalized, targeted curriculum ranging from 1 to 32 hours – along with continued training on an advanced level. A sample of what we teach can be found below (please note that many clients come to us wanting to learn non-physical techniques only, the BASIC-only program, the BASIC and MODERATE programs, or the BASIC-MODERATE-ADVANCED programs):*
